Questions we get asked on shift
We are two nurses who sell life insurance to nurses, healthcare workers and their families. These are the answers we give in person.
- Are you actually nurses?
- Yes. Joel Nual is a Registered Nurse and Dasha Nual is a Licensed Practical Nurse. We still work in healthcare, and we are also independent licensed life insurance agents. We are not a call center and not a lead broker.
- Is my employer's life insurance enough?
- Usually not on its own. Group coverage is often one to two times salary, it ends when you leave the job, and the amount is rarely tied to what your household actually needs. We look at your own policy alongside whatever your employer provides.
- Do I have to take a medical exam?
- Not always. Several carriers we work with use medical records and prescription history instead of an exam. Whether that fits depends on your age, health history and the amount of coverage you want.
- Will night shift or overtime hurt my application?
- Shift work by itself is not a rating factor. What underwriters look at is blood pressure, weight, A1C, sleep-related diagnoses and medications. We tell you upfront how a carrier is likely to view your file.
- How much coverage do I need?
- It depends on income replacement, mortgage or rent, childcare, student loans and final expenses. On the call we walk through those numbers with you and show ranges rather than pushing one product.
- What happens on the 20-minute call?
- We ask about your family, your health history and your budget, explain the coverage types in plain language, and if you want quotes we bring them back with carrier options. No pressure and no endless follow-up.
- Which states are you licensed in?
- We are licensed in Licensed in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Texas and Kentucky — serving families across the South. Everything is handled by phone or video, so there is no in-person visit.
The Insurance Nurses is an independent agency of licensed agents, not an insurance carrier. Coverage, availability and underwriting decisions are made by the issuing carrier.
